Shraddha Kapoor is preparing to return to theatres with Eetha, nearly two years after the release of Stree 2. The 2024 horror-comedy became a major commercial success, raising expectations around the actress’s next project. However, despite receiving several film offers after its release, Shraddha decided not to sign anything immediately. During a recent question-and-answer session on Instagram, she explained that her decision was guided by her search for the right story, rather than a lack of opportunities.

Shraddha Kapoor Says She Received Films With Attractive Fees

During the Instagram interaction, a fan asked Shraddha for advice for young women trying to build their careers. Instead of offering a general motivational message, the actress shared an experience from her own professional journey.

She revealed that several filmmakers approached her after Stree 2, and some of the offers reportedly came with substantial fees. Even so, she chose not to accept a project simply because it was financially attractive or because she was expected to return to the screen quickly.

Shraddha explained that she had made up her mind to wait until she found a story that felt completely right. She said her instincts told her not to rush into another film, and she decided to follow that feeling.

Her comments offer an insight into why audiences have not seen her in a new leading role since the 2024 release. While a gap between films can sometimes be the result of scheduling difficulties or limited opportunities, Shraddha made it clear that her break was a conscious decision.

The Actress Says Waiting Was Difficult but Worthwhile

Choosing to turn down work is not always easy, particularly after delivering a successful film. A popular release can create pressure to maintain momentum, and audiences often expect an actor to announce another project soon afterwards.

Shraddha acknowledged that waiting for a project she truly wanted to be part of was challenging. However, she now feels proud that she stayed with her decision instead of accepting a film under pressure.

Her advice to young women was rooted in this experience. She encouraged them to listen to their instincts, even when doing so means making an uncomfortable choice. According to her, the right decision may not always be the easiest one, but trusting yourself can be important when deciding the direction of your career.

The actress’s upcoming project suggests that the wait has finally led her to a role she was interested in exploring.

A Look at Shraddha Kapoor’s Recent Filmography

Shraddha has maintained a relatively selective film schedule in recent years. In 2020, she appeared in Street Dancer 3D and Baaghi 3. She later made a special appearance in Bhediya in 2022, before returning as a lead in the romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar in 2023, opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

In 2024, she reprised her role in Stree 2, which became one of the biggest successes of her career. The film’s performance at the box office strengthened interest in what she would choose next.

Now, Eetha is set to be her next major theatrical release. The project also gives her an opportunity to step into a character and performance style different from several of her recent mainstream roles.

What Is Shraddha Kapoor’s Film Eetha About?

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Eetha is based on the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a celebrated Lavani and Tamasha performer from Maharashtra. Her life and experiences form the foundation of the film, with Shraddha taking on the role of a Lavani dancer.

Vithabai’s story is remembered for her extraordinary commitment to performing. One account associated with her life describes how she went into labour while she was nine months pregnant and performing on stage. She reportedly gave birth backstage before returning to continue her performance.

The incident reflects the demanding circumstances in which traditional folk performers sometimes worked, and it forms a significant part of the story being brought to the screen.

Utekar, who has previously directed films including Chhaava and Mimi, is at the helm of the project. His experience with character-driven stories makes Eetha a notable addition to Shraddha’s filmography.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on December 4. For Shraddha, it represents more than simply the next release after Stree 2: it is the project she chose after deciding that the right story mattered more than a quick return.
