Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to create two types of citizens: those who have the right to vote and those who do not.
He accused Modi of “conspiring” to win elections by deleting votes through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The BJP won elections in West Bengal and Maharashtra through voter deletion via SIR. Now, they want to do the same in Telangana, he said.
“PM Modi is creating two types of citizens in this country. One, the rich who have voting rights. Second, the poorest of the poor who do not have the right to vote. The BJP tries to win elections by dividing people in the name of religion,” he claimed.
“Who are those poor? Adivasis, Dalits, minorities and women. Since they are against the Modi government, if their votes are removed, what will they do? The conspiracy is to form government once again by securing the votes of those who have the right. That is the SIR,” the chief minister said.
Challenging Revanth’s claims, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president, Ramachander Rao asked him to show proof. “So far, not a single voter has come forward to claim that their votes have been deleted. It is only Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy who are out on the streets, shouting that votes have been removed,” said Rao.
“Again and again, Rahul Gandhi is misleading the people with regard to vote chori and says that PM Modi, Shah, and Gyanesh will have to pay a price for it,” he added.
Responding to Telangana Congress leaders’ decision to attend the party’s protest rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1 over the SIR row, Rao said the BJP here woyuld organise Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Friday said the party would organise rallies ‘padayatras’ to expose the Congress’ “false narrative” and its attempts to “provoke” the country’s youth.
“Save Democracy – Fight against anarchy’ is the main theme of the rallies. The first rally would be held in Hyderabad on November 1, followed by Siddipet on November 3 or 4 and Karimnagar on November 5,” the Telangana BJP president said.
Almost a week ago, describing the Congress as “guardian of the Constitution”, Rahul Gandhi launched a fresh attack on the government and CEC Gyanesh Kumar for what he called “vote chori”, promising to bring the culprits to book.
Addressing a party rally at Margao in Goa, Gandhi said, “Vote chori is an attack on the Constitution and the Congress party’s dharma as the party is the guardian of the statute.”
“Gyanesh Kumar and others will face the law and pay a price for what they have done,” said Gandhi, challenging the government to file a case against him for his repeated claims about vote theft.
“I already have 45 cases, including defamation, against me, and I challenge them to file a new case for my vote chori claims. I know they will not do this as filing a case against me on this issue will make the matter legal and expose them,” he said.
