Ghaziabad:As per the orders of Police Commissioner J Ravinder Goud, the Commissionerate Police launched a special campaign to test the security arrangements of public places for the safety of women and girls. On September 26, Mission Shakti and Anti Romeo teams of all 24 police stations of the Commissionerate reached the parks of their respective areas and conducted security audit. The objective of the campaign was to identify the security deficiencies and potential risks present in the parks and get them resolved in a timely manner.

Investigation done at many points of security system

During the campaign, police teams tested the security arrangements of the parks at several points. The availability and functionality of CCTV cameras, entry and exit gates, availability of security guards, dark spots in the park, lighting and mobile connectivity were examined. Apart from this, other shortcomings to the overall security system of the park were also identified on the spot.

CCTV stopped in 34 parks, other shortcomings revealed

CCTVs were found switched off in 34 parks. During the security audit, CCTV cameras were found not functional in a total of 34 parks. Construction or renovation work was going on in 10 parks, due to which proper entry and exit gates were not available there at present. It was also revealed that adequate number of security guards were not available in some parks. Along with this, shortcomings to lighting system and other basic security facilities were also identified. Information has been given to the concerned departments and local bodies regarding the shortcomings identified by the police teams. They have been informed for necessary improvements and actions, so that the security arrangements in the parks can be improved.

Now monitoring will be done through regular patrolling

Now monitoring will be done through regular patrolling. The police have decided not to limit the security audit to just a one-day operation. Regular visits and patrolling will be done in these parks by Mission Shakti and Anti Romeo teams. Along with providing a safe environment to women and girls, the activities of anti-social elements will also be monitored through the presence of police teams.

Review of route chart of UP-112 vehicles

Along with this, the route chart of UP-112 vehicles operating in the Commissionerate was also reviewed. During the review, emphasis was laid on inclusion of public parks, markets and other identified sensitive places in the regular patrolling routes of UP-112 vehicles. As per need, amendments in the route chart and arrangements for additional patrolling have also been made.

Continuous efforts to make public places safe

According to the Commissionerate Police, public places are being constantly monitored for the safety of women and girls. By maintaining effective police presence through Mission Shakti, Anti Romeo Squad and UP-112, security deficiencies will be removed by coordination with the concerned departments. Regular review of security arrangements will continue to make public places safe and fear-free.
