New Delhi: Once again there is going to be a big change in the weather across the country. The pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal may strengthen further in the next few hours and take the form of a deep depression, which is likely to hit the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha between the night of 23 September and the morning of 24 September. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in many states due to the impact of this system.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this pressure area formed in the west-central and adjacent north-western part of the Bay of Bengal is continuously gaining strength and there is every possibility of it turning into a deep depression in the next 12 hours. This system is likely to move west-northwestwards and cross the coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur. At 8:30 am on Tuesday, the system was located about 200 km south-east of Gopalpur and about 290 km east of Visakhapatnam, increasing the risk of worsening weather in coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Weather patterns will change in North India also

At present, rainfall activities are limited in North-West India, but changes can be seen here in the coming days. Widespread rain and thundershowers may occur over East Uttar Pradesh during September 25-27, while rain may continue over Uttarakhand till September 26-28. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on September 28. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay away from trees and open areas during heavy rains and storms.

Monsoon will remain active in Central India also

There may be widespread rain in East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha from 22 to 27 September and in Chhattisgarh from 22 to 28 September. A warning has been given of extremely heavy rain at some places in Chhattisgarh on 23-24 September. Western Madhya Pradesh may also witness rain and thundershowers at isolated places between September 22 and 28, while very heavy rain is expected in Vidarbha on September 24-25.

Most affected in Odisha, alert of strong storm also

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places and extremely heavy rainfall in some areas between September 22 and 24 in Odisha. There is a possibility of widespread rain and thundershowers in the state from September 22 to 26, while rain may continue in some areas on September 27-28. During this time, a warning has also been given of a strong storm, where the wind speed can reach 50-60 kilometers per hour and gusts can reach up to 70 kilometers per hour. Fishermen and boats present in the sea have been advised to take special precautions.

Rain activities in Maharashtra and Gujarat also

Konkan-Goa and Marathwada may receive widespread rain on September 22-23, while there is a possibility of rain in Madhya Maharashtra on September 22 as well. After this, this trend may continue from 24th to 28th September. Gujarat region can also see rain at isolated places from September 22 to 28, where wind speed can reach 40-50 km per hour with gusts up to 60 km per hour.

Alert of heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may receive extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on September 22-23, while very heavy rainfall may continue at isolated places on September 24. Widespread rainfall is expected in the coastal parts of the state from September 22 to 25. While Telangana may receive extremely heavy rains on 23-24 September, heavy rains may also be seen at some places on 22 and 25-26 September. In both these states, winds can blow at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour during September 23-24, whose gusts can reach up to 70 kilometers per hour.

Situation will worsen in Bay of Bengal also

Strong winds are already blowing in the Bay of Bengal at a speed of 45-55 kilometers per hour, reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour with gusts. From the evening of 22nd September, this speed may increase to 50-60 with gusts up to 70 kilometers per hour. By the evening of 23 to 24 September, the wind speed can reach 55-65 km per hour with gusts up to 75 km per hour.

Effect will be visible in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand also

Widespread rainfall is likely over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha from September 22 to 26. There may be a period of rain in Jharkhand between 22 to 27 September and in Bihar between 24 to 27 September. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may also receive rain from September 23 to 27. There is a possibility of very heavy rain at some places in Bihar on 24-25 September, while a warning of lightning has also been issued in Jharkhand on 22 September.
