Qualifier 1 of TNPL 2026 was not played on 23 August due to rain. The match started but had to be stopped after 4.5 overs of play. Similarly, rain also prevented the eliminator match played on 24 August. Only 3 overs could be bowled in this match. Now the question is that if these matches were not held due to rain then how did their result come out?
Due to the cancellation of Qualifier 1 and Eliminator due to rain, those teams who had performed well in the group stage and were also among the top teams in the points table, were in trouble. When the Qualifier 1 match was canceled due to rain, Madurai Panthers got a direct ticket to the finals due to being number 1 in the points table till the group stage. Apart from this, the other team Trichy Grand Cholaaz got entry in Qualifier 2. Qualifier 1 is played between the top two teams in the points table.
Similarly the eliminator match was also decided. In this match, the team Kowal Kings, which stood third in the points table, got the ticket for Qualifier 2. Whereas Tiruppur Tamizhans was out of the tournament. The eliminator match is played between the teams ranked third and fourth in the points table at the group stage.
The second qualifier of TNPL 2026 will be played on 26 August. The question is what will happen in it? The weather is likely to remain clear in Chennai during this match. That is, it should be expected that at least this match will be decided on the basis of the current performance of the teams. Qualifier 2 is to be played between Trichy Grand Cholaz and Kowal Kings. The team that wins this match will play the final with Madurai Panthers on 28th August.
