The altercation took place last Friday at a bar within the luxury resort Porto Marina in El Alamein, Egypt, where Hassan was vacationing.
A dispute between his long-time wife, Howaida El Gharbawy, and his second wife, Dina Mustafa, commonly known as Dan Adam, escalated into a physical fight that involved hair-pulling and was witnessed by tourists at the resort. Relatives from both sides intervened immediately before security was summoned to the scene.
Both women reportedly sustained minor injuries, including scratches and bruises.
The alleged video shared on social media of the fight between the wives of Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan.
According to Al ArabiyaHassan was feeling dizzy and fainted while attempting to break up the fight.
Following the incident, Hassan reportedly decided to officially divorce his first wife, El Gharbawy. He subsequently signed the divorce papers at a notary office in Cairo.
Hassan and El Gharbawy had been together for decades and share three children.
Mohamed Shams, the lawyer representing the second wife, Dan Adam, spoke to Sky News Arabia about the situation: “We hoped it wouldn’t come to divorce, but things escalated to this level.”
SShams further mentioned that his client was the victim of a “premeditated attack”.
Ahmed Hamad, the lawyer representing El Gharbawy’s family, declined to comment on the details of the divorce. He stated that the family didn’t wish to speak to the media at this time.
Hassan married Dan Adam in 2015 while still legally married to El Gharbawy. The couple had briefly separated in 2022 before reconciling.

Under Egyptian law, a Muslim man is permitted to have up to four wives simultaneously. However, civil registry authorities are legally required to notify the current wife or wives of any new marriage. A husband with multiple wives is also legally obligated to treat them equally regarding housing, financial support and standards of living, The Sun reported.
Hassan is an Egyptian football legend who currently holds the national team’s all-time goal-scoring record, having netted 69 goals in 177 appearances. He represented Egypt at the 1990 World Cup and competed in seven different editions of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
After retiring as a player, Hassan transitioned into coaching and managed several clubs in Egypt.
He took charge of the Egypt national team in 2024, notably guiding them to the Round of 16 at the recent 2026 World Cup, where they suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat against Argentina. Following the tournament, the 59-year-old manager extended his contract, remaining in the role until 2030.
