According to the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, October 1, 2026, is the qualifying date.

As per the revised schedule, door-to-door survey by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) has been extended from June 30 to August 17, 2026. Earlier, the house survey deadline was extended to August 8. However, after considering the letter sent by the Delhi Election Commission, the Central Election Commission has decided to extend it further.

First draft to be published on August 17

Accordingly, the first draft electoral roll will be published on August 24, 2026, against the earlier extension deadline of August 17 and the original deadline of August 5. This will be followed by a period for filing claims and objections from August 24 to September 23, 2026.

Any citizen wanting to add, delete or make a correction in the voter list, they will be able to register the claims and objections between the above mentioned period.

Final electoral roll on October 27

The poll body will dispose of the claims and objections by August 22. Once the process is completed, the poll body will publish the final rolls on October 27.

In this order, issued by Sandeep Kumar, Additional Secretary of the Central Election Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has been clearly instructed to inform all recognised political parties in Delhi in writing about this new schedule.

Rules changed for first time appicants

Last month, the poll body introduced a new requirement in the online voter registration process for first-time applicants. For filling Form 6, the first-time applicants will now be required to provide details related to their parents' SIR. The declaration remains compulsory for the online application submission.
