New Delhi. Sudden severe turbulence on an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi on Monday caused panic among passengers. The plane’s altitude changed during the intense air tremor, injuring several passengers and cabin crew members. However, the plane landed safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to reports, Air India flight AI2379 departed from Phuket for Delhi. During the cruise phase of the flight, the plane suddenly encountered severe turbulence. Initial reports indicated the plane descended approximately 300 feet. It is believed that this sudden change in altitude was caused by strong air fluctuations, either updraft or downdraft.

Around 10 passengers and four cabin crew members were injured in the incident. According to reports, the sudden tremor caused some injuries and created a commotion inside the cabin. Some photos circulating on social media showed impact marks on the cabin ceiling panels.

Airport officials were informed of the incident before the plane arrived in Delhi. Medical teams were subsequently alerted and placed on standby at Indira Gandhi International Airport. After a safe landing, all passengers and crew were disembarked. Those injured were taken to the airport medical facility for evaluation and necessary treatment.

Air India confirmed the incident, stating that turbulence occurred briefly during the flight, causing a temporary change in the aircraft’s altitude. According to the airline, the plane landed safely and all passengers and crew are safe. The company stated that necessary medical assistance is being provided to those affected and that it is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities in the investigation of the incident.
