Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has decided to increase the limit of moong procurement at support price (MSP), giving a big relief to the moong producing farmers. Now not 25 percent of their produce will be procured from eligible farmers, but up to 60 percent. Along with this, the last date for slot booking has been extended from 30th July to 10th August. This decision was taken after the meeting held by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav with the Group of Ministers and representatives of farmer organizations.
State Agriculture Minister Andal Singh Kansana said that the Central Government had set the target of summer moong procurement for Madhya Pradesh this year at 4.52 lakh metric tonnes. According to the earlier rules, only a maximum of 25 percent of the farmers' produce was to be purchased at MSP.
However, considering the demand of farmer organizations and wider farmer interests, the state government has taken a big decision. Now up to 60 percent of his moong produce will be procured from each eligible farmer. According to the government, in districts like Narmadapuram, Sehore and Harda, it will be equal to about 3 quintals per acre on an average.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, the government has also extended the deadline for slot booking. Now farmers will be able to book their slots till August 10, 2026. At the same time, the last date for moong procurement has also been extended from August 10 to August 20.
The government says that with this decision, more and more farmers will be able to get the benefit of minimum support price and the procurement process will be more organized.
The issue of problems faced by farmers regarding the e-token system of fertilizer distribution was also raised in the meeting. After this, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has decided to constitute a high level committee under the chairmanship of Agriculture Production Commissioner.
The committee will review the e-token system and submit its recommendations to the government. Till then, the system of fertilizer distribution through e-token has been postponed with immediate effect. The government says that after the reforms, this system will be implemented again, so that the farmers do not face any kind of problem.
The state government has assured that such decisions will continue to be taken in future also to increase the income of farmers and make the agricultural system more transparent and convenient.
