With the aim of promoting dairy business in Uttar Pradesh and increasing the income of farmers, the state government has launched an ambitious scheme. Under ‘Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana’, financial assistance worth lakhs of rupees will be given to animal farmers to set up dairy units with improved breed of cows. The aim of the government is not only to strengthen the rural economy but also to make the state more powerful in the field of milk production.

This scheme has brought a special opportunity for those farmers and youth who want to start their business in the dairy sector but are not able to progress due to lack of capital.

50 percent subsidy on units worth Rs 23.60 lakh

Under the scheme, the beneficiary will have to set up a dairy unit of 10 improved breed indigenous cows. The estimated cost of this unit has been fixed at Rs 23.60 lakh. In this, the government will give a grant of 50 percent of the total cost i.e. up to Rs 11.80 lakh.

The subsidy will be released in two phases. The beneficiary will have to invest only 15 percent of the amount himself, while the remaining 35 percent can be obtained through bank loan. People who have sufficient capital available can avail the benefits of this scheme even without bank loan.

Women will get special opportunities

An important feature of the scheme is to give priority to women. Of the total beneficiaries, 50 percent share has been reserved for women cattle rearers and milk producing women.

The government believes that increasing the economic participation of women in rural areas will improve the income of families and will give a new direction to women empowerment. This is the reason why special provisions have been made for women in this scheme.

Which cows will be needed?

To avail the benefits of the scheme, beneficiaries will have to purchase 10 cows of advanced and high milk yielding indigenous breeds like Sahiwal, Gir or Tharparkar. These cows will have to be purchased from such states where the quality and breeding of these breeds is considered better.

Apart from this, the cow should be giving birth to a calf for the first or second time and it should not be more than one and a half months since the birth of the calf. With this, it will not take much time to start dairy production.

condition of land and fodder also

To set up a dairy unit, it is necessary to have at least 0.20 acres of land. Along with this, availability of green fodder for animals will have to be ensured throughout the year.

The applicant will also have to give an affidavit stating that he has made arrangements with the fodder producers or suppliers at the local level. Its objective is to ensure better nutrition of animals and sustainability of dairy.

Who will not be able to benefit?

Beneficiaries of some schemes have not been included in this scheme. Those who have previously availed the benefits of Kamdhenu, Mini Kamdhenu, Micro Kamdhenu, Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana or Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana will not be eligible for this scheme.

Don’t forget the application deadline

The application process for the scheme has started from 22 June 2026 and applications can be made till 21 July 2026. Interested farmers can apply through Jan Seva Kendra, Common Service Center or authorized portal.

This scheme, which will give new strength to the rural economy, can prove to be a big opportunity for those who want to make animal husbandry a permanent source of employment and income.
