A fake news being spread on social media in the name of Manoj Tiwari has created a stir in the political and media circles. Actually, an alleged statement is becoming increasingly viral on the internet, which is being shared in the name of a reputed media organization of the country. The matter became more serious when a senior leader of Samajwadi Party (SP) also forwarded this misleading post through his social media handle.
Now media house ‘Navbharat Times’ (NBT) has entered this entire controversy. The institute has denied any such news and termed it completely fake. NBT has warned in clear words that those who misuse their name will not be spared and strict legal action will be taken against them.
The whole matter took a political turn when Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Manoj Yadav posted this alleged statement to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on his official Facebook page. It is being told that in this post a thing was written along with the photo of Manoj Tiwari, which he never said. As soon as this post came out, discussions became heated on social media. However, when an attempt was made to contact Manoj Yadav to know his side on this entire matter, he could not be talked to.
After this fake news went viral, ‘Navbharat Times’ itself came forward and clarified the situation. NBT tweeted from its official social media handle and wrote, “For the last few days, many fake posts in the name of NBT are being made viral on social media. Through these, attempts are being made to spread misleading and wrong information. Please be careful – all these posts are completely fake.”
The institute has appealed to the readers and social media users not to believe in such rumors at all. To check the authenticity of any news, turn only to official platforms.
Nowadays, it has become very common to create fake screenshots using logos and fonts of famous media houses to gain political mileage or tarnish someone’s image. Leave aside common users, sometimes even people holding responsible positions become victims of this without fact-checking. The same was seen in this case also, where the spokesperson of a big political party shared this fake post without thinking. At present, the threat of legal action is hanging in this matter, and it remains to be seen what turn it takes in the coming days.
