Manila: A very painful incident has come to light from Tacloban city in central Philippines. Here on Monday, two attackers opened indiscriminate fire in a school campus. In this violent attack, three students died on the spot, while five other students were seriously injured. Local police officials have confirmed the incident.
The police administration took immediate action in the case and took into custody both the suspects to this incident. According to the information given by the police, one of the arrested attackers is a student of the same ‘San Jose National High School’, where this bloody game was carried out.
At present, investigators and local police officials are trying to find out the main reasons and motive for this shooting that took place in the school campus. Meanwhile, in view of the atmosphere of tension and fear in the area, security arrangements have been tightened. Heavy police force has been deployed in and around the school campus to keep the situation under control.
Local police chief Brigadier General Jason Capoy said the suspects, aged 14 and 15, each had a pistol. These suspicious students have been taken into custody. The incident took place at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City and all the students were from this school. An investigation has been started to find out the reason for the firing in this government school. More than 1,500 students study in this school.
Capoy said that the two suspects, who were close friends, told during initial interrogation that they were harassed in school. However, he did not elaborate on this. The captured boys have no criminal record and it is not yet clear from where they got the pistols used in the attack.
“The suspects entered two rooms and committed the crime,” Capoy told reporters. After the firing in the first room, when the children ran to save their lives, the suspects chased some of them and entered the second room.” He said most of the dead and injured were girl students. After the attack, one suspect was caught inside the school premises but the other suspect escaped from there and hid in a nearby house.
Acting promptly on information from local residents, the police found him. Shooting crimes are common in the Philippines due to the abundance of unlicensed weapons, but school shootings are relatively rare there.
