Shiv Shankar Savita- The prestigious ‘Spark Chandra Premier League, affiliated with the Kanpur Cricket Association and organized by the Chandra Cricket Academy, witnessed tremendous thrill of bat and ball on Saturday. According to official information given by League Commissioner Neeraj Verma, high-voltage matches were played today on two different grounds in the city. While in the first match, Shwas Indians registered a one-sided victory thanks to the unbeaten and stormy century of Veer Aditya Singh Dev, in the second match, with the help of Arpit Pandey’s brilliant all-round game, Midway Titans defeated the opposition team.


First match: Veer Aditya’s stormy century, Shwas Indians won by 7 wickets


The first match of the league was played between the teams of Shwas Indians and GDS at Chandra Cricket Academy Ground. In the match, GDS won the toss and decided to bat first. GDS got off to a good start with batsman Armaan Khan scoring a brilliant 49 runs while Sumit Pal made an important contribution of 32 runs. However, the middle order faltered in front of the bowlers of Shwas Indians and the entire team was bundled out for 163 runs in 31.5 overs. While bowling lethally for Shwas Indians, Yuvraj Yadav took maximum 4 wickets, while Raghav got 2 wickets. Chasing the target of 164 runs for victory, the Shwas Indians team started in a very aggressive manner. Opener Veer Aditya Singh Dev played a brilliant unbeaten century of 100 runs, hitting fours and sixes all around the field. Playing with him well, Divyajot scored 18 runs. Due to the excellent batting of these two, Shwas Indians easily achieved the target by losing only 3 wickets in just 27.2 overs. The only successful bowler from GDS was Jesus Sachan, who took 3 wickets. Veer Aditya Singh Dev was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his brilliant century.


Second match: Arpit Pandey shines, Midway Titans beat K-News by 38 runs


Today’s second match of Spark CPL 3.0 was played between Midway Titans and K-News at the RBS Ground. In this match, Midway Titans won the toss and chose to bat first. Thanks to Arpit Pandey’s useful 45 runs and Vipin Kumar’s 36 runs, Midway Titans team scored a respectable score of 158 runs after losing all the wickets in 34.5 overs. On behalf of K-News, Akash Jain bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets, while Surya Prakash and Bhanu Singh got two wickets each. In reply, K-News team, chasing the target of 159 runs, could not stand against the lethal bowling of Midway Titans. For K-News, Bhanu Singh tried to fight by scoring 41 runs and Anirudh Singh scored 25 runs, but the entire team collapsed for just 120 runs in 33.15 overs. For Midway Titans, Karthik bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav and Arpit Pandey broke the back of K-News by taking two wickets each. In this way Midway Titans won the match by 38 runs. Arpit Pandey, who first scored 45 runs with the bat and then took 2 wickets with the ball, was chosen ‘Man of the Match’ for his excellent all-round performance.
