The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 witnessed this edition’s two fastest goals on the same day – Saturday (June 20).
First, Morocco’s Ismael Saibari took just 71 seconds to score the fastest goal in FIFA World Cup 2026 against Scotland at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA.
Saibari took only 21 minutes to score a goal for his country in his World Cup debut. Barely a minute was enough time for him to get on the scoreboard in his second outing.

Saibari drilled a shot into the top corner of the net a mere 71 seconds into Saturday’s 1-0 win over Scotland, keeping alive Morocco’s chances of advancing to its second straight World Cup knockout round.
Later on Saturday, Matias Galarza scored 64 seconds into the game in Santa Clara, USA, for the fastest goal at this year’s World Cup and Paraguay held on for a 1-0 win over Turkey.
“It’s unforgettable,” Galarza said. “This is the most beautiful stage in the world, playing amongst the best. I’m so proud. I hope that Paraguay is happy.”
Though Saibari and Galarza entered the record books for the fastest goals in this year’s FIFA World Cup, their achievements are not in the top 11 of the all-time list.
The fastest goal in FIFA World Cup history came in just 11 seconds when Turkey’s Hakan Sukur scored against South Korea in the 2002 edition. There have been 11 players so far who have scored goals within 50 seconds of the start of the matches at the FIFA World Cup.
