Bengaluru: There are many temples in India which are famous for their beliefs and mysteries. One of these is Hasanamba Temple located in Hassan city of Karnataka. This temple is not open every day like other temples. Its biggest specialty is that it is opened for devotees only for 10 to 12 days in a year during Diwali. Its doors remain closed throughout the rest of the year.
The history of Hasanamba Temple is quite old and it is believed to be directly to the Hoysala dynasty. This temple is also mentioned in government historical books like Mysore Gazetteer. According to these documents, this temple had great recognition during the Hoysala period.
Even today the archeology department and historians are surprised to see its ancient architecture. The importance of the temple increases further due to its being recorded in historical records.
The biggest mystery of the temple is the incident which forces even science to think. After Diwali, when the temple is closed for a year, a ghee lamp is lit in front of the idol of the Mother Goddess in the sanctum sanctorum. Along with this, freshly cooked rice and fresh flowers are also offered. After this the heavy doors are closed and sealed.
When the temple is reopened next year on Diwali, the view is astonishing. When the priest opens the door of the sanctum sanctorum, the lamp is found burning in the same manner as it was left a year ago.
The second part of this mystery is even more shocking. The rice prasad offered to the Mother Goddess remains fresh even after a year. There is neither any smell nor does it spoil. The offered flowers also appear to be blooming without withering.
Local people consider it a miracle of Hasnamba Devi. When the temple opens during Diwali, lakhs of devotees come here for darshan. People come from far and wide to see this mystery with their own eyes and seek the blessings of the Mother Goddess.
If you are interested in history, spirituality and unsolved mysteries, then Hasanamba Temple of Karnataka is a must see. Even after being closed for a year, the burning of the lamp and the freshness of the offering still remains a matter of reverence for the people.
