Punjab government is going to take a big step towards economic empowerment of women. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that eligible women of the state will start getting financial assistance under ‘Mukhyamantri Maanwa-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ from July 1. The objective of this ambitious scheme is to strengthen women economically and provide them support to live a respectable life.

Women will get financial assistance every month

Under the scheme, eligible women of Punjab will be given financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month. Under the special provision, Rs 1,500 per month will be provided to women belonging to Scheduled Caste category. The government says that this amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which will ensure transparency.

The Chief Minister clarified that women who are already receiving social security pension will also be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.

Target to reach 97 percent women

According to Bhagwant Mann, about 97 percent women of Punjab are likely to benefit from this scheme. To successfully implement the scheme, the state government has made a provision of Rs 9,300 crore in its budget.
The government believes that this financial assistance will not just provide money but will also become a medium to strengthen the self-esteem and self-reliance of women.

Rapid registration campaign going on

To provide the benefits of the scheme, a large scale registration campaign is being conducted across the state. The Chief Minister said that lakhs of women are being registered every day. About two lakh ‘Mahila Satkar Sakhis’ are actively involved in this campaign, who have been entrusted with the responsibility of registering eligible women.

Anganwadi and service centers are being built

For the convenience of women, arrangements for registration have been made at Anganwadi centres, service centers and special centers designated by the district administration. With this, women from both rural and urban areas will be able to easily join the scheme.

Women respect and social change initiative

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that giving respect and economic freedom to women is the foundation of development of any society. She believes that when women become financially strong, then both family and society will become more powerful.
