South superstar Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer ‘Peddi’ has taken the box office by storm and started creating new records on its first day. The film has collected Rs 135.36 crore worldwide in just 24 hours after its release, making it one of the strongest opening films of the year.

Director Buchi Babu Sana’s ‘Peddi’ recorded a net collection of Rs 51 crore on its first day in India. Released in 12,412 shows across the country, the film received an average audience attendance of 45.5 percent. Interestingly, the film collected Rs 18.50 crore from the premiere shows before the official release. So the total net collection in India has reached Rs 69.50 crore, while the gross collection has reached Rs 82.49 crore.

The film received the highest response from the Telugu audience. 6,944 shows in Telugu recorded a whopping 68 percent audience attendance. Getting such a huge response even on a weekday is considered a big plus for the film. This shows that ‘Peddi’ is getting huge support not only from Ram Charan’s fans but also from the general audience.

The Hindi version got off to a relatively slow start, grossing Rs 3 crore on its first day. Despite being screened in 4,333 shows, Hindi attendance remained at 16 percent. However, this number is expected to increase due to positive response and word of mouth during the weekend. The Kannada version grossed Rs 0.25 crore, the Tamil version added Rs 0.45 crore and the Malayalam version added Rs 0.10 crore.

When compared to Ram Charan’s previous film ‘Game Changer’, ‘Peddi’ is considered to have a more impressive opening. While ‘Game Changer’ collected around Rs 80 crores worldwide on its first day, ‘Peddy’ has taken a huge leap by reaching the mark of Rs 135 crores directly. So now the film is expected to earn more in the weekend. Due to the response received on the first day, whether ‘Peddy’ will perform strongly at the box office for a long time, the fans along with the film industry are paying attention. It will be interesting to see what other records the film holds after the weekend.
