Regarding the country’s biggest medical entrance examination, NEET UG 2026, the Central Government has given a decision which has surprised everyone. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the cancellation of the NEET exam held on 3 May 2026. This strict step has been taken after allegations of paper leak and serious rigging in the examination process in many states including Rajasthan. NTA says that it was necessary to cancel this examination to maintain the confidence of the students. This decision has had a direct impact on about 26 lakh students of the country, whose hard work has gone waste and now they will have to start preparing for this difficult examination again.

Waiting for new dates and restlessness among students

After the cancellation of the exam, the biggest question now is when will the exam be held again? A lot of tension and restlessness is being seen among students and parents regarding this. According to official sources of NTA, the complete schedule of re-examination, new date of release of admit card and other important information will be shared on the official website very soon. The agency has also appealed to the students to be cautious of the rumors spreading on social media and consider only the official information as true. Students have been advised not to break their preparations as new dates can be announced any time.

Command of investigation handed over to CBI

Considering the seriousness of the paper leak case, the Central Government has now handed over its entire investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). On May 8, it became clear from the inputs received from the investigating agencies that the transparency of the examination had been compromised. Now the CBI team will go to the bottom of this entire paper leak network and find out whether anyone from inside NTA was involved in this game or not. The main objective of the government is to expose the masterminds behind this scam so that no such incident can happen again in future. The agency has assured all possible cooperation to the CBI in the investigation.

No fees will have to be paid for re-examination

A relief news for the students is that they will not have to bear the financial burden of appearing for the exam again. NTA has made it clear that for re-exam, students will neither have to make a new application nor pay any additional exam fee. Only the old registration will remain valid and students will be able to appear in the examination again on the basis of their earlier fees. Along with this, the old options of examination centers are also expected to remain intact. NTA will complete this entire process with its internal resources so that there is no new financial burden on parents and children.
