Investigators find over 100 questions in a mock paper similar to the actual ones asked in the NEET 2026 exam.
Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities linked to the NEET UG 2026 examination after the National Testing Agency received inputs from Rajasthan and Uttarakhand regarding question sets circulated before the May 3 examination that allegedly overlapped with the actual paper, as per a TOI report.

Additional Director General of Police Vishal Bansal told TOI that investigators identified a set containing more than 400 questions that had been circulated days before the examination.

According to officials, more than 100 questions related to biology and chemistry showed similarities with those asked in NEET UG 2026, as reported by TOI.

Bansal described the material as a “guess paper” or test series. However, sources indicated that investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a larger network behind the circulation of the questions.

Searches conducted across Rajasthan and Dehradun

Officials said SOG teams carried out searches and field inquiries in multiple locations, including Sikar, known as Rajasthan’s coaching hub, as well as in Dehradun.

Sources told TOI that investigators are examining whether the circulated material had any direct connection with the examination paper.

An official associated with the probe said around 100 questions from chemistry and biology appeared to match the NEET paper.

Similar material surfaces in Maharashtra

Officials also noted that similar videos and copies of test-series question papers were circulated on social media from a coaching academy located in Latur, Maharashtra.

Amol Tambe, Superintendent of Police in Latur, said local police had not yet launched an investigation into the matter, reports TOI.

NTA says examination conducted under full security protocol

In a statement issued on Saturday, the National Testing Agency said the May 3 examination was conducted under a “full security protocol” and proceeded normally at all examination centres.

The agency said suspicious inputs were received late on May 7 and were forwarded to central agencies the following morning for independent verification and necessary action.

Without mentioning any detentions or raids, NTA stated that it was fully cooperating with investigators by sharing technical inputs and examination-related data.

“The examination process itself proceeded as planned across all centres on the day,” the statement said.

The agency also stated that the integrity and efforts of genuine candidates should not be questioned or undermined due to the ongoing investigation.

Further action subject to investigation findings

NTA said any future decision regarding the matter would depend on findings submitted by investigating agencies to the Ministry of Education.

Sources said the matter remains under verification and no formal FIR has been registered so far.
