Arsenal received a massive boost in the Premier League title race after Manchester City were held to a shock draw at Everton on Monday evening. Pep Guardiola's side found themselves 3-1 down at the Hill Dickinson before battling back to salvage a point. The Gunners, meanwhile, secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday and now sit five points clear of City. Their rivals, however, still possess a game in hand against Crystal Palace, scheduled for May 13.
Following the Merseyside encounter, Guardiola conceded that the title is no longer within City's grasp as the season enters its final stages. "The point is better than no points, but it would have been better to win the game," said Guardiola. "Many things happened - the difficulty of the opponent, the incredibly aggressive way they play. It was in our hands and in Arsenal's hands, and now it is not in our hands. We have Brentford on Saturday and we continue and we'll see what happens."
After 35 matches, Arsenal currently sit on 76 points, meaning their maximum possible tally stands at 85. City, meanwhile, have accumulated 71 points from 34 games and retain a game in hand, leaving their maximum achievable total at 83 points.
Following the draw with Everton, City can no longer surpass 83 points even if they claim victory in all of their remaining fixtures.
For Arsenal to secure the title, they need at least seven points from a possible nine in their final three matches, while winning all three would wrap up the championship regardless of what City now manage to achieve.

If Arsenal win the league before they play Palace, they will get a guard of honour in the last game. City have to go Bournemouth before the final weekend still.
If both clubs win their remaining fixtures, Arsenal will win the title by two points on the final day of the season. The earliest Arsenal can win the title is at home to Burnley on May 18.
Yet another twist could still be on the cards. Arsenal may hold the upper hand on goal difference, but it remains a slender one. As things stand, it's +41 compared to City's +37.
Should the two sides finish level on points, the Gunners will be crowned champions, but a four-goal swing is by no means out of reach, given City have an additional game to play. Three days after that home fixture with Palace, City face FA Cup final action against Chelsea at Wembley (May 16).
They then travel to Bournemouth on May 19, meaning they will contest three matches in the space of six days before the final day of the season, at home to Aston Villa on May 24.

For Arsenal, the picture looks rather different, with attention shifting to Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid before an away fixture at West Ham five days later.
Eight days after that, they welcome relegated Burnley to the Emirates, then six days later they make the trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.
