The Delhi government has granted approval for a significant expansion of the metro rail network on Saturday. This expansion will introduce seven new corridors in Phase V, covering a total distance of 97 kilometers. Plans are in place to establish 65 metro stations along these corridors. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the estimated cost for this project is ₹48,204.56 crores, aimed at enhancing connectivity to the outer and emerging areas of the capital. Officials indicated that four of the seven corridors have been prioritized for rapid development. The government aims to complete these priority corridors by 2029.

Detailed Project Report Submitted to Central Government

According to a report, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the entire initiative has already been prepared and submitted to the central government, awaiting cabinet approval. Following an extensive meeting between the Chief Minister and DMRC earlier this week, the Delhi government approved the project. Before construction can commence, both the central and Delhi governments must also provide financial clearance.
