The Uttar Pradesh government has presented an overview of its initiatives focused on women’s welfare and empowerment over the past nine years under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to official data, multiple schemes have been implemented to address areas such as financial independence, safety, healthcare, and social security for women and girls across the state. Officials reported that over one crore women have been linked to self-help groups, contributing to increased access to income-generating opportunities and financial inclusion. Programs such as the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana and Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana have been cited as key initiatives supporting girls and women, with lakhs of beneficiaries reported under both schemes.



The government also highlighted the implementation of the BC Sakhi scheme in rural areas, where women have been engaged in financial transactions and banking services. Data indicates that transactions exceeding ₹42,000 crore have been conducted through the initiative, with participants earning commissions from these services. Similarly, the Vidyut Sakhi initiative has involved women in electricity bill collection, contributing to additional income generation. Under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, awareness programs have reportedly reached crores of women and girls. The administration also noted that a significant number of women have benefited from the PM SVANidhi scheme, aimed at supporting small vendors.



Employment-related measures were also outlined, including policy changes allowing women to work night shifts in industrial settings with safety provisions in place. The state reported an increase in female labor force participation from around 13 percent before 2017 to approximately 36 percent in recent years. In terms of social welfare, the government stated that pension support for destitute women has been increased, with monthly assistance raised to ₹1,500. Additionally, nutrition programs have targeted children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, with crores of beneficiaries covered. On safety measures, the 181 Women Helpline has reportedly assisted over eight lakh women.



Financial aid has also been extended to victims of serious crimes through the Rani Lakshmi Bai Bal evam Mahila Samman Kosh, with disbursements running into hundreds of crores. The government’s summary outlines a range of interventions aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of women, while indicating continued focus on welfare and safety initiatives in the state.
