It was in 1989 that Sooraj Barjatya made his directorial debut with Maine Pyar Kiya starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. And that movie started the phenomenon of Prem.

Post Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman Khan starred as Prem in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999).

However, with the 2003 movie Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Sooraj Barjatya went for a change and cast Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan as new Prem on the big screen.

Three years later in 2006, the filmmaker directed the blockbuster Vivah starring Shahid Kapoor as Prem.

In 2008, he wrote and produced Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi which featured Sonu Sood as Prem.

And then in 2015, Soorja Barjatya reunited with Salman Khan as Prem after 16 years in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

In recent years, there were reports that the filmmaker is making Prem Ki Shaadi starring Salman Khan as Prem.

However, it was later reported that Ayushmann Khurrana has replaced Salman and the movie is now titled Yeh Prem Mol Liya.

The filmmaker has now officially confirmed the movie with Ayushmann Khurrana taking over the mantle of Prem alongside Sharvari as female lead.

Making the release date announcement, the makers wrote in a statement, “We Have An Announcement!! This November, Rajshri Productions (P) Ltd. in association with Mahaveer Jain Films, brings to the BIG screen a family entertainer directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya titled - ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari. A Himesh Reshammiya musical. In theatres 27th November 2026 - Save the date!”

The movie is releasing a week before Ajay Devgn, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sanjay Dutt’s action entertainer Ranger which is slated for December 4, 2026, release date.
