The 29th match of IPL 2026 was very high-scoring, which was played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This match took place on 19 April at Maharaja Yadvind Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. In this match, Punjab, batting first, set a big target of 255 runs for Lucknow. In reply, LSG team fell far behind in achieving this target and PBKS won the match by 54 runs.


 


PBKS has been the best team so far in IPL 2026. Punjab has played 6 matches so far, out of which it has won 5 and 1 match was cancelled. Their net run rate is +1.420 and Punjab are on top of the points table. On the other hand, the performance of LSG has not been good. Lucknow has been able to register only 2 wins in 6 matches and has lost 4 matches. Their net run rate is -1.173 and the team is at number 8 in the points table.


 



PBKS innings


After losing the toss, PBKS was asked to bat first but this decision somehow overshadowed Lucknow. However, LSG made a great start to the match by taking a wicket in the very first over. Despite this, Punjab played cautiously in the powerplay and scored 63 runs losing 1 wicket. After this, in the middle overs, Punjab batsmen completely changed gear. Between 7 and 15 overs, the team batted strongly and added 130 runs by losing only 2 wickets. Lucknow’s bowlers did make some comeback in the death overs but Punjab did not let the run rate get affected. In the last 5 overs the team scored 61 runs after losing 4 wickets. On the basis of this brilliant batting, PBKS scored a huge score of 254 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.



Priyansh Arya scored the highest score of 93 runs for PBKS. Apart from him, Cooper Connolly also played well and scored 87 runs. In the last overs, Marcus Stoinis quickly added 29 runs to take the team to a strong score. Whereas from Lucknow, Manimaran Siddharth and Prince Yadav took 2-2 wickets. Apart from this, Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan got 1-1 success. However, Stoinis was eventually run out and returned to the pavilion.


 



LSG innings


LSG, which set out to chase the big target, got off to a good start. In the powerplay, the team scored 61 runs after losing 1 wicket. After this, the team faltered a bit in the middle overs and could add only 81 runs after losing 3 wickets between 7 and 15 overs. Lucknow lost 1 wicket in the death overs but could not score runs very fast and could score only 58 runs. In this way LSG could reach only 200 runs by losing 5 wickets in 20 overs and in the end PBKS won the match by 54 runs.




 


Captain Rishabh Pant scored the maximum 43 runs for Lucknow. Apart from him, Aiden Markram scored 42 runs and Mitchell Marsh scored 40 runs. For PBKS, Marco Jansen took 2 wickets, while Arshdeep Singh, Vijaykumar Vishak and Yuzvendra Chahal took 1 wicket each.
