More high streets are set to lose bank branches as three of the biggest banking chains in the UK are rolling out closures throughout the month. Hundreds of bank branches have already closed across the country, with no sign of slowing down in 2026. While concerns have been raised about older and vulnerable banking customers who might rely on in-person services, branches continue to close to reflect changing habits among earners and savers.
Banks have revealed that the majority of their customers use online and in-app banking, while the number of branch visits has fallen significantly. However, campaigners have stressed the importance of having in-person services on the UK high street.
