Eamonn Holmes has witnessed first-hand the difficulties that people with restricted access face, and he's keen to see change. The legendary TV personality spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the challenges he has faced when he's gone out for the evening in his wheelchair, and he's made it clear that he would love to see change and have more businesses consider those who have a disability when they're creating spaces.

Speaking to Express.co.uk at the World Young Chef, Waiter and Mixologist competition dinner at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, where Eamonn supported the young people from all over the world as a guest judge, the GB News star passionately spoke about what changes he'd like to see after finding that some of the things he loved were "out of action" or just harder. Eamonn, who had been laughing about career highlights moments before, then asked to make a serious note about some areas that have become apparent when he's been in an electric wheelchair.

He said: "The cinema is out of action for me. I would like to make this serious point about cinema. For me to enter the cinema, to get someone to push me to a cinema, you can only sit in two places, that's at the very front up against the screen, or up at the back miles away. You just say to yourself, why is it like that?

"Why can't you be halfway up the auditorium? I do think people get it very rough. I think people who are disabled don't get treated fairly, as to what they can see and where they can see it from. I don't think anybody cares in cinema theatres, but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that." Eamonn said he noticed that even things like doors not being big enough to comfortably get through make life "very difficult".

Another big love of Eamonn's life is football, but he said that can be an issue if he is going in his wheelchair, telling us that there are certain stadiums that he has been able to get access to, but it's not always the case. He added: "It's hard, everything is harder."

Eamonn said that in order to spark change, they should take people like him into hotels, adding: "I don't understand why anybody takes a hotel or theatre or whatever and says this is ready for disabled people without bringing disabled people around. With loos in establishments, you come in and think, 'there's no bars. How can I stand up here? How can I get this wheelchair in here and close the door?"

The TV star has called for changes to be made in order to make things easier for people living with a disability, having experienced being in a wheelchair himself, he's recognised the struggles that people face and wants to see change across the board.

Eamonn spoke while being served up cuisine from the young chefs, who were praised by Robert Walton MBE, who is the Chairman of World YYY as he declared: "The standard is extraordinary, the pressure is real and the opportunites created here are life-changing."

He said they had arrived in London to compete against the "very best in the world", while being judged by a room full of people.

The luxurious event, sponsored by brands including DOJO, NEFT and Blenheim Palace Natural Mineral Water, saw Eamonn celebrate the best in food and drink as he shared his call to change things for people with disabilities.
