Gachiakuta, a highly anticipated anime sequel in the dark fantasy genre, explores a dystopian world filled with garbage and the struggle to survive and exact vengeance, told through the lens of Rudo Surebrec and his Cleaner team. Fans can expect intense action sequences from the battle against the Abnormals, Rudo’s family tree expanding, more on society’s divide, justice & redemption, all told in a high-action visual style reminiscent of graffiti. The end of the first season provided emotional high points and a lot of world-building direction for season one, setting the stage for season two in 2023.
A confirmed release date has yet to be revealed. While there is no date or time frame from Studio Bones or the production committee at this moment in March 2026, there are many estimates from various places (including SuperHeroHype) and discussions among fans that indicate the Gachiakuta anime will air sometime in late 2026 or 2027 at the earliest. The estimates above are based on “normal” anime production times—from the time Season 1 began production to when it actually aired was approximately 1 year, and full-cour anime seasons usually take between 1-1.5 years after the date of their confirmation (specifically because Bones produces very detailed animation). While there has been speculation that Gachiakuta may air in 2026, that’s a very optimistic guess considering that there has not been any official word on it yet. You can expect to receive updates on Gachiakuta by following the official Gachiakuta anime site, Crunchyroll, or their X post.
Also, in , a stage play adaptation of Gachiakuta will begin its run in Tokyo on May 22, 2026, with performances starring Hikaru Imamaki as Rudo. An action-RPG video game based on Gachiakuta is also currently in production. The amount of material to this new franchise suggests a great deal of momentum.
The core cast from Season 1 is expected to return, as there’s no indication of changes. Key voice actors include:
No new cast announcements have surfaced for Season 2 yet, but returning staff and voice actors are standard for sequels like this.
According to Kei Urana’s manga, Season 1 encompasses Chapters (1-87), which introduce the Cleaners, some early battles, and begin to set up larger mysteries.
While Season 2 will cover:
– More in-depth exposition into Rudo’s family history and his ties to major players, such as Canis Surebrec.
– Conflicts with antagonists and “abnormal” trash beasts, as well as the growing divide between people that live in the Sphere (rich) and those in the Slums (poor).
– Bigger, more intense battles; more character development (especially of the Cleaners team); and deeper exploration of judicial systems, vengeance, survival, and Gachiakuta (the trash world)’s lore.
– 1st major missions, information brokers, and larger threats as arc-based stories – fans highlight this aspect as the peak of the series because of the battle sequences and world-building.
The manga continues to be produced (more than 160 chapters will be available by February 2026), and the last chapter was released in late March 2026. Several recent chapters have featured action-heavy sequences and significant character growth. The author has been on a brief health- hiatus since late February, but there remains ample material to draw from for many seasons.
For those who have completed the anime series, starting with Chapter 88 of the manga provides a great opportunity to see what will happen next. The series has gained a strong following due to its exceptional graffiti-inspired artwork, its gritty view of a post-apocalyptic world, and its exciting fighting sequences; therefore, expect the second season to deliver even more of this.
