Meghan Markle's estranged dad, Thomas Markle, is set to be fitted with a prosthetic leg "pretty soon", his son has revealed.

Thomas Markle Snr, 81, had his left leg amputated in a three-hour "life or death" operation after falling unwell at his home in the Philippines in December 2025 and being rushed to hospital.

His son, and the Duchess of Sussex's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, told the Mirror: "He's going through therapy. He's going through physical rehab. We're going to have to get him fitted for a prosthetic here pretty soon and get that man walking again. That's the goal. That's the priority."

After hearing her dad was in hospital and despite not speaking to him since her wedding day in 2018, where he was unable to attend due to ill health, Meghan Markle sent a letter to her dad's hospital bedside, delivered by US embassy officials.

Thomas Markle jnr added: "It's just mind-boggling how you could just continue to walk through life and not even give the man a phone call and pay for the best medical care that dad needs right now."

Thomas Jnr, who is his dad's full-time carer, is being supported by his 28-year-old Filipino girlfriend Rose, who he credits with looking after him.

In a new video posted on his YouTube account, Thomas Jnr added: "I hope next time, Meghan, that you see a disabled person or somebody who has only one leg. I hope you think real hard."

Before relocating to the Philippines, Meghan's dad had spent the past decade living in a beachside bungalow in Rosarito, Mexico, just 250 miles from Meghan and Harry's estate in Montecito, California.

Thomas Markle, 81, has never met his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, due to a long-standing estrangement from his daughter, Meghan.

Despite expressing a strong desire to see them through public media interviews, and facing health issues, including a leg amputation, the distance remains.
