Winter Olympics 2026 began in Milan from February 6 and has already given the internet its discourse of the week.

The internet’s most recent debate is on Sturla Holm Lægreid, who is a Norwegian Olympian.

Sturla just won a bronze medal on February 10 for the men’s 20km biathlon but it was his speech afterwards that sent a shockwave.

The 28-year-old Olympian confessed on live television that he made the grave mistake of cheating on his partner who found out about his infidelity and left him.

The athlete made the public confession in hopes to have her back.

Sturla’s former partner spoke to a Norwegian magazine, VGsaying it is ”hard to forgive, even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world.”

“I did not choose to be put in this position, and it hurts to have to be in it. We have had contact and he is aware of my opinions on this” the woman said who wishes to remain anonymous.

Netizens have turned the situation into a debate questioning if he did the right thing or “embarassed” his former partner.
