Harry Maguire appears highly likely to secure a new deal with Manchester United in the coming months, as Michael Carrick continues to instil faith in the centre-back. The England international will be 33 when his existing agreement expires this summer, as he approaches the latter stages of his career.
Given that he's understood to currently earn approximately £180,000-per-week in wages, United may seek to reduce his salary as they attempt to reach an arrangement with him. The club will also need to negotiate with his representatives regarding the duration of his new deal.
The England international has proved integral to Carrick's system at Old Trafford and now looks set to have his tenure prolonged following his impressive displays in recent weeks. The Daily Mail report Maguire's representatives held discussions with AC Milan in January, though the player wishes to remain and appears likely to pen new terms.

Maguire has featured in every one of Carrick's matches since taking charge of United last month, partnering alongside Lisandro Martinez in victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham.
Should Maguire finalise a new agreement with his club of seven years, it would represent a remarkable turnaround from the situation he encountered just a number of years ago, having been relieved of his captaincy by Erik ten Hag before drifting in and out of Ruben Amorim's starting XI.
Maguire's situation differs from that of team-mate Casemiro, who has confirmed he will leave Manchester United when his contract runs out this summer. The Brazilian holding midfielder has flourished at the Theatre of Dreams since joining from Real Madrid in 2022, clocking up 149 appearances in the heart of the engine room.
Nevertheless, the 33-year-old revealed earlier this year that he will be departing the Reds this summer. Taking to Instagram to share the poignant announcement, he wrote: "Knowing when stages come to an end.

"Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever. Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal.
"Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans. Forever Red Devil."
The move came despite Casemiro possessing a contract extension option in his existing agreement, triggered should he feature in 35 matches or more this campaign. Both Casemiro and Maguire will be aiming to secure a fifth consecutive victory under Carrick on Tuesday evening, as the Reds head to the London Stadium to face a rejuvenated West Ham United.
At the time of writing, the Reds occupy fourth in the Premier League table with 12 victories, eight draws and just five defeats this season. Victory would see the club climb above Aston Villa into third place on goal difference, though the Villans could reclaim their standing on Wednesday when they host Brighton and Hove Albion.
